Contour’s an ongoing project to map the melodic dance music scene, using released records and the people credited on them.

The more often the same people turn up on the same records and labels, the closer they sit together.

Broadly, the map runs harder and more drum-led on the left to lighter and more melodic on the right. It’s a tendency across the whole map rather than a ranking between neighbours — two labels sitting side by side could go either way.

Not every label/artist has been fully recorded — this is a work in progress. Each card clearly states whether the data’s fully collected.

Every artist and label sheet carries a correction link scoped to that sheet. If something’s wrong, please let us know via the card link.
